Moorespeed IMSA Porsche Cup Drivers Riley Dickinson and Rob Ferriol Carry Momentum Into Watkins Glen

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

The Moorespeed team and drivers Riley Dickinson and Rob Ferriol, fresh off of podium finishes for each driver in the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama at Montreal, hope to carry their momentum forward in a doubleheader this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

The weekend gets underway on Thursday with a pair of practice sessions. The duo will qualify in a 15-minute session on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. EDT, with the first 45-minute race of the weekend at 2:00 p.m. EDT. The series will then race again at 9:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday morning.

“We’re really looking forward to being at Watkins Glen, especially after a really great test there a couple of weeks ago,” Moorespeed President David Moore said. “I hope we can carry the momentum from that test, as well as the Montreal race, into a strong weekend for both Riley and Rob.”

Dickinson will pilot the No. 53 Moorespeed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the Platinum Cup, where he currently sits third in the standings. The 16-year-old has three podium finishes this season through six rounds of the championship.

“At this point in the season I believe that the team and I have gained valuable information from the past tests and races,” Dickinson said. “I feel like it is all starting to come together. And with going back to Watkins Glen, after the very productive test that we had, and coming off of a strong third at Montreal everyone has been working extremely hard to find that last little bit.”

Ferriol, in the No. 5 Moorespeed/GridRival Porsche 911 GT3, sits third in the Gold Cup standings. Ferriol finished fourth at both races of the Watkins Glen doubleheader a season ago and is looking to take a leap forward this weekend.

“I’m especially looking forward to Watkins Glen, one of my favorite courses on the IMSA schedule,” Ferriol said. “I love the speed and topography of the track, as well as its rich history in U.S. racing, but the podium has eluded me the last two times I visited.  I think this year is going to be different.”

Friday’s 45-minute race can be watched live on, with pre-race beginning at 1:50 p.m. EDT. Saturday’s 45-minute race will also be streamed live at, with the pre-race show beginning at 9:10 a.m. A one-hour show will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network on July 9th at 6:00 p.m. EDT.

- In addition to Moorespeed’s Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge team, Moorespeed’s No. 19 Bardahl/CAG Audi R8 LMS GT3 will be in action on the same weekend at Watkins Glen in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona (GTD) action. Season long drivers Will Hardeman and Alex Riberas will be joined by Andrew Davis for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen endurance race, which gets the green flag on Sunday morning.
